telc German B1 Exam

The IISC Institute is a licensed telc examination center. Our tests are recognized by all authorities, whether it is to obtain a visa to enter Germany, commence studies, or certify your language level for other purposes.

The telc German B1 exam in Braunschweig will be held on Saturdays, with possible dates in 2023 of September 30th, October 12th, October 28th, November 25th, and December 16th. The test registration must be completed 14 days prior to the evaluation date and candidates must bring a valid ID or passport containing a picture. The results will be issued approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the evaluation.

The full exam costs 175 euros, while only the written or oral section costs 135 euros.

You can book the test at least 14 days before the examination date either via our website or personally at our office at Bohlweg 5-7, 38100, Braunschweig. Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

The evaluation consists of an oral and a written section. The written section lasts two and a half hours. The oral part is usually held on the same day while the duration is depending on your place in the queue. The telc test can only be passed in a licensed center. The use of a dictionary is not allowed.

How is the telc German B1 test constructed and how is it scored?

Telc German B1 test consists of two main sections: written and oral. The written section includes reading comprehension (90 min.), listening comprehension (30 min.), and writing (30 min.). The oral part consists of the speaking section with a time limit of a quarter of an hour. The total score is 300 points. To pass the test, you need to achieve a minimum of 60% in both parts, which means scoring at least 180 points.

The test will be corrected at telc headquarters and we will contact you as we have received your results. You can collect those in person at our office, and you will need to bring an identity card or passport containing a photo. The test result is valid for an unlimited period.

If I fail the telc B1 German test, may I retake it?

Yes, absolutely! You can retake either the entire test or just a part of it. If you do not pass only the oral or only the written section, you may retake only the section for which you did not obtain the required score within 365 days of evaluation.
